“Um… what does a producer do exactly?” That’s a common question, and the answer is that a producer should be able to do just about anything that’s required to put on a show.

While you’re writing, directing, performing or generally being fantastic, we can take care of, what you may call the boring bits, behind the scenes.  This is what we thrive on.  From marketing to budgets to bums on seats, MILKE looks after everything so you can focus on the creative side of things.  We have the experience, networks and contacts to help everything run smoothly, all you need to do is be brilliant!

We have years of experience producing for Theatre, Comedy, Radio, Cabaret, Circus and Dance. That means we can suggest and create opportunities you may not have considered. A tour to Vegas? No problem.  We can also call on our extensive contacts for reliable technical and creative personnel who make everything happen the way you want it.

We love to have chats with artists too! We can suggest and create opportunities you may not have considered. Whether you have a ready made show that you want to take places or maybe you just have a little idea for a show and want a producer to come on board? Get in touch and tell us what you’re thinking. Who knows where it could lead?  Say hi here.

We offer 1:1 mentoring for independent artists and producers Australia wide who would like to up-skill, get advice or even just have someone in their corner who has ‘been there, done that’.

At MILKE we get it.  It’s hard to do all the creative work AND the producing work without getting overwhelmed.  We love working with artists to help streamline the producing side of things.

How does it work?  Well, it depends on what you need.  It could be a one off strategy session, a full day session or weekly sessions to get right down to the nitty gritty. We will give you the tools to map out what you need to do and more importantly, exactly how to do it.

If that sounds like something you are after and you would like to know more, book in for a free mentoring chat on the phone and we will give you a call.   You can book directly into our calendar here.

MILKE has created a four week online program called Artist Bootcamp to support and teach independent artists and producers in producing, marketing and pitching their shows like a pro.  This program has been running for the past eighteen months and has had over eighty aritsts worldwide complete the course.  This course includes a weekly group live skype coaching (limited to 12 people) presented by Laura Milke Garner.  For sessions details and pricing go to

MILKE has worked with a range of local government arts and cultural departments providing strategic advice, planning and programming with large-scale festivals and tenders.  We have also provided consultation in programming, creative development for artists, research and training for organisations such as Melbourne Fringe Festival, Triple R Radio, La Trobe University, Mirabel Foundation and Sydney Opera House.

Just a few case studies.

  • Developed the event management tender application and process for Manningham City Council to outsource their large-scale yearly Carols by Candlelight event.
  • Trained more than 250 volunteers over eight years for Triple R Radio through their eight-week introduction to radio course.
  • Commissioned by Sydney Opera House to program and work with local artists in the delivery of a new program in radio drama involving actors, writers and directors.
