La Rejectamenta
Herman wakes up alone and terribly hung-over atop a pyramid of plastic waste floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. How did he get there? Why is there blood on his hands?
Into the black void in our collective memory steps La Rejectamenta - Queen of the Eternal Plastic Isle, who ritually transforms the blood of society’s castaways into wine. To pay for his way home Herman must journey down through the island to the cellar at its bottom and steal a bottle of her finest vintage.
La Rejectamenta is a highly physical, satirical and intellectually stimulating theatrical experience.
The Carlton Courthouse will be transformed into the dangerous underworld lurking beneath the surface of the island. Two red lengths of fabric stretch from the floor to the ceiling, representing the river of bloodwine Herman journeys down. Suspended high between the future and the past, between life and death, Herman comes face to face with the mighty Zeitgeists who rule our world and the ghosts that haunt his own.
This new work by Stuart Orr is a beautifully constructed piece of theatre, combining, one actor, multiple characters and aerial tissu performance.
