Dispatch

Dispatch is contemporary visual and puppet theatre at its most delightful. Beautifully created and performed by Penelope Bartlau from Barking Spider Visual Theatre.

Initially developed in 2007 as part of Penelope Bartlau's Master of Puppetry at the VCA, Dispatch’s original script was awarded an R.E. Ross Playwright's Script Development Award and has since been invited to showcase at ASSITEJ Youth Theatre Festival in Adelaide and the Brisbane Festival.

A fascinating visual and theatrical poem, Dispatch follows puppet character "Sorrel", a young girl who has died and who arrives alone in a leaky boat at "the Middle place", a nowhere-land island in the middle of an ocean.
